The culture of living together and the theory of bow tie

Recently, when I was chatting with a lawyer friend, the topic; In the same city, people living in different neighbourhoods are different ways of behaviour, these forms of behaviour in all of us in everyday life, from markets, walking areas, parking lots, to the behaviour of trades in that neighbourhood It’s affecting you.

There are neighbourhoods, cities where we all feel better or worse when it comes to “living there”. In this way, there can be many different reasons for feeling better or worse.

At the extreme point of behaviour patterns (even cultures) arising from the relationships we encounter in different settlements; There are behaviours and actions in which the boundaries of respect are crossed, respect is eliminated, even crime becomes criminal.  As the level of development increases, respect is increased, and in adverse situations, the physical reactions shown to the person in the face are preceded by verbal reactions and mimics. Even at the most advanced level; Only small facial expressions can be revealed in response to the situation where we are not satisfied, the person in the opposite cannot continue to behave by understanding it.

The elimination of respect in social daily relations, even transforming into actions to commit a crime, is associated with different levels of interests and economic sophistication. You can visualize Maslow’s needs hierarchy in terms of benefits, behaviour patterns and expectations.

Social Evolution and crime

The subject is a very old friend, who then performs multidisciplinary readings and researches in different areas such as economics, business and organizational issues, as well as social evolution, moral philosophy, crime and the history of humanity at the University of Leicester. I had the chance to debate again with Serdar Kurdoğlu.  (I tried to give a place to Kurdoğlu’s thoughts with italicized expressions in the article).

“We can consider the development as an evolutionary process. For example, it is an evolution to move from hunter-gatherers or nomad societies to peasant society. The transition from peasant farming community to industrial society is also an evolution. Although it is called the Industrial Revolution in its name, it can be regarded as an evolutionary change in terms of social process. The subject of cultural evolution progresses faster, unlike biological evolution, so there is no need for thousands of years. “

As a result of the development of socio-economic dynamics, the point in today’s world is that different societies are at different levels of sophistication. These levels of sophistication will be in different neighbourhoods in the same cities and can be considered and evaluated as an intercountry.

At any level, it is influenced by these variables to eliminate respect for the forehead and ultimately become a crime.

-in low-developed economies, crime arises from the potential to be able to do major damages for small interests.

-In advanced economies, small losses for big interests are given and cannot be easily identified by the community.

Bow tie Theory

We can look at it as a bow tie. The two ends of the bow tie show the level of respect for varying levels of sophistication and/or crime-processing levels. Of course, at this point, opening parenthesis is not a theory that reveals the outcome of a scientific study. The only reason that you are addressing the subject in this way with a visual and approach is to discuss only with my esteemed readers who are interested in compiling my observations and discussions based on the subject. Perhaps I can discuss the matter academically in the process.

Let’s move on.

This approach, which I can summarize as a bow tie theory, is summarized in the following illustration.

In low-developed economies, we said that crime arises from the potential to cause major damages for small interests. For example, “in the back streets” may not hesitate to hurt the owner of the watch for a young wristwatch.

To steal three pounds of goods from a vehicle, you can break the glass of the vehicle and damage five pounds.

In the above figure, despite the level of sophistication at the lowest level on the left side, the height of the damage given at one time is represented by these examples above.

“In less developed societies, the individual has less respect for other individuals, and the dominance of power and violence is at the forefront. That’s why the fight, the noise, the war is not over. The lean domination and brutality of physical power, of course, can be an indication of a civilized little development. “

As another example of underdevelopment, we can also add a pattern of behaviour called “Town cunning” or “peasant cunning” in business life or social relations. According to the Turkish Language authority, peasant cunning; It is defined as “the work of deception to others with simple knowledge and little experience he can acquire for his own benefit.” “Deception” is not always an element of the crime, but can be considered as potentially damaging. For small accounts, there may be greater damages. Of course, the “peasant” or “urban” expressions represent the behaviour of unwanted actions in the village or in the city, not all individuals/persons living in the country or in the socio-economic context in terms of public social environments, and the potential for harm.

“On the other hand, peasant cunning comes from this. The individual does not touch his own peasant, his own small society, because they are the ones to live together. He goes to the other peasant or the man he’s never met again in the city. Because it’s not really civilized, it can’t plan a long-term shopping with a large mass, it’s still a hit-and-run. It’s like a village, a tribe or a family, but it may not be sensitive to their relationship with anyone other than them.

But the man who urbanized, the long-term thinker, the great thinker. He considers trade and long-term, broad-based relationships. The spoils of war or the Al few consider it exceptional. You’re going to trade, basically, at worst, you’re going to sell your workforce, you can’t just rip it off.

You have to meet strangers, have long-term relationships, you have to build yourself an environment, you have to think of a diplomatic relationship outside your village or tribe. “

Here, urban human expression is a broader concept than dwelling in populated areas of the population.

“It must also be noted that everyone adapts to their own nature. For example, a city mentality can be difficult to shelter in the village. So the goal is not to accuse the peasant. When the peasant emits to the city, or when the village develops, somehow it adapts, it changes. It’s good to be friends with peasants, actually, because he’s naïve, he’s manly, but he can be cruel and reckless with the man he doesn’t know, the problem he’s having. “

Maybe we should discuss this separation to further clarify the notions of peasants and urban. Urban people; In its daily life, it represents an individual who has developed, complex, intensive processes and relationships in accordance with the values of the age and the ability to manage it in accordance with basic humanitarian values.  It does not matter where the individual lives in the village/city.

“What is desired is to make the peasant part of the high civilization, or the goal is not to sever it from the village.  So living in the village is something else, not everyone will live in the city. “

Sustainable reputation

If we return to the point of the potential for harm to others, the situation on the other end of the Papis the opposite. As the economy and social life evolve, it increases the level of attention not to harm others for their own interests. Even when it comes to conscious damages, it gets a lot more cheerful. Without hurting a reporter very much, it happens without notice. There are ongoing and sophisticated relationships in a more complex structure.

“In developed societies, the system is more based on the peaceful survival of society. If it’s settled, it’s really civilized, it’s not going to do or learn to do it.

“The man of the developed country does not behave randomly (Dan Dun), he is political, diplomatic, he wants to do it without feeling, because he wants to be able to look at his reporter’s face later, he wants to do a steady job with him. In any case, even if he won’t do business with the same man, he cares about his social reputation. “

When it comes to reputation, you can observe this in areas such as the best residence life, Tower workplaces. Even in the most passionate damages, the interpersonal smiling face is dominated, the way of hurting is more of a backspin. This situation is more effective in situations where the powers are equal. Although power is perceived only as “money”, there are many more complex elements of force. It is possible to explain with this discussion that “peasant cunning” cannot adapt to the residence life because it only has money without solving this complex structure.

If the powers are not equal, the more advanced economies, in their relationship with the underdeveloped, take care of their interests through smaller and unobtrusive arrangements. Most of the time these arrangements will have a mass effect on the level that affects the majority of the unaware of the situation.

Middle class

The idea is that the band between the ends of the Papis not too wide. As economic, social and cultural bandwidth is opened, restlessness will increase. The structure that will eliminate this imbalance is “middle class”.

That’s where the importance of the middle class arises. As the middle class evolves, the pressure on the ends of the PAPYP shifts to the node in the middle of the bow tie and eliminates imbalance by spreading to the average.

“The very rich may not be grateful, he may not care about others. To dictate their own rules
May require. The war of the poor is so strong that morality can be part of the second plan. If being civilized means getting away from violence and building a life with other methods, establishing peaceful relationships, and creating cultural relations with people broadly, of course, a good middle class can be a guarantee for that. On the other hand, it is possible to see a variety of people from all walks of course. “

Bow tie in international relations

These two situations that come and go between the ends of the Papayas can be observed in the community, as well as in international relations between States. As the level of development increases, more and more “diplomacy” comes into effect when the powers are equal, and as the balance of power deteriorates, it tends to give the diploma more physical harm to its place and “war”.  But even in the international arena, war is an approach that has its own rules. (A detailed resource for the details of diplomacy in international relations may be suggested as the book of Henry Kissinger’s diploma.)

In structures where the level of development is minimal, “terror” is more unorthodox and shows itself as more ruthless at one time. The situation in which advanced economies determine “shooter” from undeveloped economies is among the issues that come up and discussed in both individual and inter-country relations.

The culture of living together

In summary, in social relations, urban, advanced, civilized, etc. is called, the advanced individual who can perceive the values of his age, sustain long-term and complex relationships and prioritising respect for fundamental human relations With the potential to harm others, with simple and short-term accounts that cannot think complex, the potential to harm others in the excitement of saving the day is different.

If you do not limit the boundaries of this behaviour to just “harm” or “crime”, you need to address all relationship levels of the “daily” of these two groups, located at the two ends of the topic Papyon. This debate should be considered as an art of living in terms of “quality of life” and should be discussed in terms of improving the culture of living together.

Love.

Ibrahim.
